Nightlife Arts of Vermont is dedicated to creating spaces where performers of all levels and abilities can shine. Bring whatever kind of act you'd like whether
burlesque, drag, comedy, cabaret dance, heels, spoken word, or solo music (singer, guitarist, etc.). We provide one microphone for your set if wishing. If looking for a different type of part in the show as a stage kat or show host, let us know in the form as well!
Open stages are an important part of the nightlife arts scene. They provide:
Access and Opportunity: Not every artist has a venue or the resources to showcase their work. Open stages create a low-barrier entry point for performers of all experience levels.
Community and Connection: These events bring together diverse voices, fostering collaboration and mutual support.
Cultural Vitality: Nightlife arts thrive on innovation and inclusivity. Open stages keep the scene vibrant and ensure that underrepresented voices have space to be heard.
This is an unpaid performance opportunity.
We will have tip buckets, and you keep 100% of your tips.
We’ll contact you via email regarding sign-up confirmation and show info, so please provide an address you check regularly.
Acts should be self-contained. We have one mic and a simple setup (no additional tech support beyond playing backing tracks).
Sign-up process: Admission is first-come, first-served based on sign-up order. If we notice any material that conflicts with our Code of Conduct or technical abilities for the space, we will reach out to discuss before confirming your spot. We reserve the right to remove any acts that exhibit these conflicts.
Ages 21+.
Code of Conduct
We are committed to maintaining a respectful, more inclusive environment. Please review our https://www.nightlifearts.org/code-of-conduct before signing up.
Key expectations:
Our stage is a space for artistic expression, which can include satire, political commentary, and humor that challenges mainstream ideas and powerful institutions ("punching up"). However, the target of this expression must never be the inherent identity of a person or protected group. Performers are expected to wield their platform responsibly
No material that targets marginalized folks or identities or wears culture as a costume. No punching down.
Respect fellow performers, staff, and audience members. Consent is mandatory.
Please note that for burlesque pasties and bottoms that cover genitals are a requirement. We follow state and city ordinances on nudity.
Nightlife Arts of Vermont exists to celebrate and sustain the rich culture of nightlife performance. Our mission is to create safer, more inclusive spaces where artists can express themselves and audiences can experience bold, diverse art forms. We believe nightlife arts are essential to community life. They challenge norms, spark dialogue, and bring joy and catharsis. Through events like Hot Damn!, we aim to nurture creativity, amplify voices, and keep Vermont’s nightlife vibrant and welcoming.
